ABOUT RONDA
The city of Ronda, situated in the heart of the incomparable countryside of southern Spain lies midway between Seville and the Costa del Sol. It is 60 Km inland from Marbella and about 90 Km west of Malaga.
This is an absolutely magnificent location with breath-taking views. It is built on a hill which is cleft in two by a gorge. The gorge is spanned by a bridge, several hundred feet high, which dates from Roman times. Ronda boasts the oldest bullring in Spain and Hemingway had strong connections with the place.
Close to it is a viewing point with a vertiginous drop of several hundred feet named by locals after the rather strong swear word uttered reflexively by many Spaniards when they first see the sheer fall under their feet! The view stretches unbroken towards Sevilla in the west and “buitres” ride the thermals overhead.
In this idyllic location, students not only benefit from class instruction but also from the enriching opportunity to experience authentic Spanish living.
Ronda is a medium-size community that provides a safe and welcoming atmosphere for study and language practice as well as for discovering the nuances for the Spanish way of life. You can be in a large city or on the beach within an hour and a half, yet live in a temperate mountain climate immersed in the rich historical traditions and the warm hospitality of a town of only 40.000 inhabitants, an ideal place to experience the Spanish language and culture.

The School
This school is a gem.
It combines academic excellence with stunning surroundings in one of the most historic towns of Andalucia.
It is located in 2 magnificent “palacios” which also house a Museum. There are internal courtyards of Mudejar and Castillian styles (see photo) and an external terrace with incredible views westwards towards Sevilla – not to mention a vertiginous drop of several hundred feet below.
The School was established as a cooperative venture between the Ayuntamiento de Ronda and the University of Malaga and draws students from all over the world. The Spanish language and culture programme is an excellent course, recognised by several universities for the purpose of academic credits.
The school is fully accredited, and staffed by fully trained teachers. High academic standards are ensured by the involvement of the University of Malaga.
Spanish Courses in Ronda
LONG TERM SPANISH CULTURE AND CIVILISATION PROGRAMME
This progrmme offers the opportunity to study aspects of Spanish culture while furthering your knowledge of the Spanish language. The programme offers a wide variety of subjects on Spanish culture that will compliment your language studies.
The programme is divided into 2 semesters. The minimum course period is 1 term.
All the teachers are fully qualified teachers with ample experience in teaching Spanish to international students
1st semester: from October through January*
2nd semester: from February through May
*For Usa students 1st semester will go from September through December.
This course is open to all interantional students with or without a university degree and any level of Spanish language. Four levels are offered: beginner, basic, intermediate and advanced. All levels receive culture classes pitched at the appropriate level of proficiency.
Fees include some cultural activities arranged by the programme, such as lectures, work groups free use of computer and internet. The programme organizes a monthly excursion to places of cultural interest such as Seville, Cadiz, Grenada or the sourroundings areas of Ronda.
Price per excursion: 15 euros.
Special prices are available to educational institutions sending gruops of students.
The school plays host to students from all over the world interested in improving their level of Spanish language and their knowledge of Spanish culture.
INTENSIVE SPANISH COURSES
These Intensive courses are designed for those who wish to perfect their knowledge of the Spanish grammar, conversation and writing in an effective and rapid manner
The Intensive language courses start in October and continue through May with a minimum enrollment period of 2 weeks.
With small classes, in a comfortable learning enviroment and following a teaching system through which your teachers will know your needs from the first day, you will see that in a short time you will begin to understand and speak Spanish.
Fees include some cultural activities arranged by the programme, such as lectures, work groups free use of computer and internet. The programme organizes a monthly excursion to places of cultural interest such as Seville, Cadiz, Grenada or the sourroundings areas of Ronda. Price per excursion: 15.00 €.
These courses are specially suited to those who wish to quickly and intensively learn the Spanish language while sourrounded by a friendly and peaceful atmosphere. Ronda offers the advantage of a medium-size town which makes it easy to meet Spanish people and practice the language.
SPANISH FOR BUSINESS PROGRAMME
The Spanish for Business Programme offers an introduction to the Hispanic business world. You will learn the realities of Spanish business and the way it functions, while you continue to advance your knowledge of the Spanish language. In addition, if you so choose, you will have the opportunity to work as an intern in a Spanish business, which will complement your CV, giving you greater access to today’s labour market.
The programme consists of one semester (Feb-May) plus an internship of one or two months. The teachers are all specialists in the material taught, and all have ample experience in the teaching of Spanish to international students
Semester: From February 1st trough May 21st, 2008
This programme is open to all international students with or without a university degree and with a minimum of intermediate (B2) or superior/advanced (C1 and/or C2) Spanish language level.
Fees include the cost of the programme and the internship, and some cultural activities arranged by the programme, such as lectures, work groups, free use of computers and internet. The programme organizes a monthly excursion to places of cultural interest such as Seville, Cadiz, Grenada or the surrounding areas of Ronda.
Price per excursion: €15.00
Special prices are available to universities or cultural institutes that wish to enrol groups of students.

SUMMER COURSES
These courses are designed to meet the needs of students ranging from beginners with no knowledge of Spanish to the more advanced who wish to perfect their understanding of Spanish on the level of grammar, composition or conversation.
In order to accommodate students needs, the Summer courses are divided into four sessions and organized in a way that provides the opportunity to study for 2 weeks, one session, or up to two, three, or all four sessions if desired.

Course description
The price includes various extra-curricular activities organized by the school staff as well as guided tours of Ronda, welcome parties, free entrances at municipal pool and internet use. Price per excursion: 15.00 €.
Our usual summer student body varies although the majority come to us from United States and the European Union. Places are limited so we encourage you to enrol well in advance.
The most spectacular way to approach the city is by train from Algeciras, but you can also come by rail from Malaga (continuation of Algeciras line) or by road via Marbella and San Pedro de Alcántara.
