Dublin is also a city of fine buildings, with a mix of Georgian squares and modern streetscapes. You can get a flavour of the city from the work of a talented Irish artist, Sarah Rossney. You can see her website by clicking on the pictures below.
Ireland is famous for its magnificent landscapes and within 20 kilometres of Dublin city, to the south and west you will find breathtaking scenes of mountain, river, lake and sea. A little further south is county Wicklow, known as the "Garden of Ireland". To the west lies Galway city and the the stunning scenery of Galway bay and the Clare coast. Further south you can enjoy the rugged beauty of county Kerry. If the opportunity arises, a visit to the Blasket Islands is a must. Carol Cronin, a talented Irish artist has produced some excellent drawings of the islands and the surrounding area. You can see some of her work here: "Gannets diving" by Carol Cronin
Climate Dublin enjoys a temperate maritime climate characterised by mild winters, cool summers, and a lack of temperature extremes. Contrary to popular belief, Dublin does not experience very high rainfall and has fewer rainy days, on average, than London. The average maximum January temperature is 8°C (46°F), the average maximum July temperature is 20°C (68°F). The total average annual rainfall is lower than Sydney, New York City and even Dallas. Due to Dublin's high latitude, it experiences long summer days (around 19 hours of daylight) and short winter days (as short as nine hours). Like the rest of Ireland it is relatively safe from common natural disasters such as tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes and tsunamis. Getting There Dublin Airport is served by several of the European hubs and by many Airports in North America. Some flights also serve Shannon Airport, with links to Dublin. From the Airport, take an airport bus - some of the Taxis overcharge. One of the English schools is located near the city centre - a journey of 30 minutes - 1 hour depending on traffic. There is a second English school in the suburbs to the south of the city, accessible by fast train from the city centre. Spanish MEC
