English for Adults                          RETURN TO TOP

Courses are designed for the client with a limited or extended study time. Classes are international and small and prices are competitive. All the skills are developed with specific tasks to enhance learners speaking skills.

 

What is included in the course fee?
Course fees include tuition on your chosen course, orientation pack, student handbook and certificate.

 

   

Academic Year Programmes                           RETURN TO TOP

These courses are for students who want an extended period of study at GCI with 12, 24, 25 or 36 week stays. Prices are discounted and very competitive. Students can choose between 20 or 30 lessons per week. Students who enroll for a 24 + can take 2 weeks holidays during their programme if it does not coincide with school holidays. 2 weeks notice is required. All course fees are paid in advance to avail of the discounts. 25 wwek course minimum to qualify for entitlement to work part time.

ENGLISH FOR EXAMS                          RETURN TO TOP

These programmes have been developed to ensure success in international examinations. Students are taken through a integrated programme of class or home study. Progress is reviewed regularly.

EP20 prepares for the First Certificate and Cambridge Advanced Examinations. Students are given a high level of support and guidance. Exam practice and study techniques form an integral part of the programme.

EP30 is a super accelerated preparation course for First Certificate,
Cambridge Advanced and proficiency examinations

EPSO prepares you for TIE, TOEIC, IELTS, TOEFL & Cambridge Proficiency examinations. Galway Cultural Institute is an examination centre for TIE and TOEIC examinations. Students have general English classes in the morning and specialised examination preparation in the afternoons.

 

These programmes have been developed to ensure success in international examinations. Students are taken through an integrated programme of class or home study. Progress is reviewed regularly. Study skills, exam techniques and mock exam practice including oral exams are part of all examination preparation courses.

English for Business                          RETURN TO TOP

GBP course is ideal for anyone seeking a group business English course cost effectively. Clients attend 20 lessons of General English and 10 Business English lessons and need to have an intermediate level of English to participate on this course. This course is designed to meet the needs and objectives of clients working in a business environment. The emphasis is on improving communication skills and presentation and meeting techniques are also covered.

ONE-TO-ONE ENGLISH PROGRAMMES                           RETURN TO TOP

These courses are tailored for the client with a limited time and a pressing need to improve his or her English. This is the most intensive way to study. With the guidance of your teacher, you design your own programme to meet your own language learning needs and you make maximum progress in the minimum time.

A Needs Analysis Questionnaire is completed and a course proposal is designed to help you decide areas of language that require focus.

COMBINATION ENGLISH PROGRAMMES                          RETURN TO TOP

These courses combine group and individual lessons giving you the best of both worlds. It allows you to tailor your individual lessons to your own specific needs.

Specialist Courses

 

CULTURE COURSE (CU6)                          RETURN TO TOP
This is a supplementary course available during the summer which can be combined with a variety of other courses. Classes take place on three afternoons per week. Students are introduced to Irish culture, history, society and modern Ireland.

 

THIRD AGE PROGRAMME (TAP)                           RETURN TO TOP
This course is aimed at clients from a variety of backgrounds who are 50+, Clients may be in a closed group or integrated into existing classes. The programme emphasises communication skills with an introduction to Irish culture and social life. Excursions and activities form an integral part of the programme.

 

Teacher Training Programme (TTP)                          RETURN TO TOP
This course is specifically designed for teachers who wish to improve their teaching skills. It equips teachers with the opportunities to practice English, introduces them to both tried and tested teaching methods and materials as well as introducing new teaching methodologies that are adaptable to all levels and students. Observation of our own native teachers in action in the classroom is available on selected afternoons.

 

RELSA CERTIFICATE IN TEFL                          RETURN TO TOP
Galway Cultural Institute has built a reputation running Relsa Tefl certificate courses for native English speakers.

 

Short Stay Winter Programme (SSWP)                          RETURN TO TOP
This particular course is designed for groups of secondary school students who want to study English in a native setting. The course is competitively priced and includes an introductory module to Irish culture. We can organise a tailor made activity programme to suit any requirement or budget.
